Long Week

It was a really long week after I got back to Hattiesburg. I had to work half a day on Saturday as well as having to be at work at 0600 Sunday morning. Jennifer had all four of her wisdom teeth out on Thursday. She was hurting when I talked to her Friday morning. She was having problems trying to take the pain meds because they were upsetting her stomach. And as if that wasn't enough, she was ordered to go pick up the mail for her unit even though she was put on quarters by the doctor. Someone in her chain of command needs a serious kick in the head! RonJon went to MEPS on Saturday. He had his physical to try to join the Navy. Seems he needs to lay off the energy drinks. He passed everything else but failed for his blood pressure. The best one they got was 145/95. Needs to be under 140/90. So, this week, his recruiter will be taking him to medical for 5 days straight and if he gets good readings for 5 days signed by a physician, then he will get a waiver from MEPS and he can still join. If everything goes the way they hope, he could go back as early as next Saturday. I got some disturbing news yesterday. A friend who is over here on the same kind of orders as me got an order modification in the mail this week. No prior notice, no nothing. His orders were supposed to run until February. The just modified them to end on 14 Aug. That's kind of scary! Now, he doesn't even have enough time left to take the leave he has on the books. Makes you wonder if they are planning on doing this to anyone else (or everyone else) and if so, why haven't we heard anything about this sooner. Nothing like giving you time to plan!! Hopefully, I'll find out more about that this week. Well, I suppose I better get ready for work. I seem to be a little slow on motivation this morning since this is the 8th day in a row. Maybe I can scam a comp day one day this week.....

Great Grandma

Mother got to spend some time with her beautiful Great Granddaughter this weekend before heading on the rest of the way back home. I got off of work early yesterday and headed home as quick as I could. We went out to dinner last night with Kirby, Sean and my friend Julie. We went to La Hacienda. Yummy as always. Mother headed out with Nell about 9am this morning on the last leg of her summer trip. It was a lovely vacation while it lasted!......

Vacation's Over

Having fun playing in the chairs at the Kentucky Horse Park.

This is the horse I want for my birthday.
Ok, so it doesn't have to be this EXACT horse, but one like it would do really nicely. The last few days of vacation went by way too quickly. I tried to post comments with my Niagara pics last Tuesday, but I was having major internet issues. We had an awesome time at Niagara Falls. It was after 5pm when we finally left there. We were both pretty tired from the long day in the sun, so we only made it back as far as Erie, PA to stay the night. We made it back to Lisa and Jim's on Wednesday evening. Boo and Marianne were already there. We all (minus Jim) went to the Kentucky Horse Park on Thursday. That was a blast. I think poor Jim about lost his mind that day though. We had left him home babysitting 9 dogs and the fence guys had come to put the fence posts in. We did bring home some Krispy Kreme doughnuts as a consolation prize for him though. :-) Friday we went to a candy store for Marianne and ran errands and went to Wally World. Saturday morning Boo and Marianne headed out to go home first. Haley and I left about a half an hour or so behind them. We made really good time. We got home about 5:30pm CST. Time enough to go get "Pig" some more puppy chow. Sunday was laundry and lounging. *SIGH* Then Monday it was back to work. It took me half the day yesterday to wade through all the emails in my inbox. Today seemed alot more back to normal. Not bad.....But I definitely liked vacation better. LOL

Return Trip

We left Argyle this morning heading back toward Lisa and Jim's. Somewhere a little ways past Saratoga we pulled over by this lovely little stream and told Nuvi that we had changed our minds. I told her I wanted to go to Niagara Falls instead! So here we are, stopped for the night at the Best Western. We will see the Falls in the morning and then see how far we get towards Lisa's after that. I'll try to get pics tomorrow, but no promises since I will also be trying to keep my camera dry. Wish me luck!

Sunday Night

Heather and Rachel got into a car wreck late Sunday afternoon. Heather got a pretty good seatbelt bruise. Rachel has a fractured wrist. There will be a funeral for the car. Both girls were basically ok and dealing with it with a sense of humor. Rachel absolutely had us in stitches over her stories of high school art classes with Heather. Glad we got to meet her while we were there.

Sunday

Sunday morning as I was headed back from Dunkin Donuts (caffeine fix), I saw a hot air balloon. It was pretty neat. I was close enought that I could hear when they were doing the air. Then Andy took me and Mother sightseeing all up around Great Sacandaga Lake. The old church was established in 1836. It was in Edinburg. I keep getting fascinated by all the old history here. On the way back, it looked like the rafters were having a BALL on the Hudson River. I definitely want to do that on my next trip! The covered bridge was refurbished not that long ago. I got a kick out of the $25 fine for going faster that a walk. That must have been a pretty steep fine in 1874!

Happy Birthday Lisa!

Today we went to Bennington, VT. It was a really quaint little town. There was a candy and chocolate shop there that was to die for! The smell as you walked in the store was just luscious! I think I could have bought out the whole store. They had an 82.5 pound chocolate moose on display. They had at least a dozen different kinds of fudge and milk and dark chocolate candies of every variety that you could think of. I think I was gaining weight just standing smelling the heavenly scents!
All around the town, they had these really neat little statues. Some of them were amazingly lifelike. They also had these moose all over the area, just like the Hattiesburg Swans. We had a really nice day. Allen chaffeured us around today and then cooked us a wonderful spaghetti dinner this evening. How spoiled are we?!

*Sparklers*

After dinner we all went out back and played with the sparklers that Jessica had brought. Heather's friend Rachel was here and joined in the fun with us.

Saratoga

After the parade this morning, Mother, Jessica, Heather and I all went to Saratoga to watch the harness horses racing. They were as spectacular as I remember. They did the rolling starting gate. I picked #5 to win. I thought he was absolutely gorgeous. Of course, in the next race, the horse I picked to win finished dead last. Good thing I wasn't betting. Lisa, the picture of the gray was especially for you!
